Faith Formation K-6

Our parish offers a faith formation program to children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Classes are held on Sunday mornings from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m., during the school year.

Our parish is blessed to have adults that are trained as catechists who, under the direction of Sister Jackie Trzeciak, help parents with the important responsibility of providing faith formation to their child in Catholic faith. These catechists teach lessons based on Scripture and our Catholic tradition.

Our parish considers parents important partners in the faith formation program. We must work together to pass on our Catholic faith to the next generation.

Registration

Parents with children in kindergarten through sixth grade receive all the necessary information about our parish faith formation program by mail during the month of August of each year with a separate faith formation registration form for each child in the family. All parents are expected to register their children for our parish faith formation program and make attending classes a priority in their family’s schedule.

If you have any questions about our faith formation program, please contact the parish office.

Important Reminders | For parents during the 2013-14 school year

If your child is in the first grade:

Remember that two years of faith formation is a requirement to receive the sacraments of first reconcilliation and First Eucharist, which are received during the second grade. So you must make sure that your child is registered and regularly attends faith formation this school year in order for them to be properly prepared to receive their sacraments next school year when they are in the second grade.

If your child is in the second grade:

If this is the second year of faith formation for your child, you must make sure that your child is registered and regularly attends faith formation classes this school year in order for them to be properly prepared to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday, December 7, 2013 and First Eucharist on Sunday, May 18, 2014.

In addition to your responsibility of making sure that your child regularly attends these classes, all parents of children in the second grade are required to attend two workshops: First Reconciliation Parent Workshop on Sunday, October 20, 2013 and First Eucharist Parent Workshop on Sunday, April 6, 2014.  Both of these required parent workshops will be held from 10:15 until 11:30 AM in the church.  You will receive more specific information about preparing your child to receive these two sacraments during the month of October.

If your child is in the third or fourth grade:

Your child must continue to regularly attend and participate in our parish faith formation program this year.  Although they received their First Eucharist, they must continue to receive regular instruction in our Catholic Faith in order to be properly prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation when they are in the Sixth Grade during the 2015-2016 school year.
