Legion of Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Praesidium
The international lay Catholic apostolic organization known as the Legion of Mary was founded in Dublin, Ireland, September 7, 1921 with the purpose of giving glory to God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active cooperation in the church’s apostolic work.
Since then, it has grown to over two million active members in almost every country in the world who carry out a weekly apostolic work on a voluntary basis.
The local group of the Legion of Mary, known as a Praesidium, was founded in March 1999. The St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Praesidium holds a weekly meeting, where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion.
Members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families, especially the sick, both in their homes and at local health care facilities. Members are also required to carry out a specific apostolic work each week in pairs.
Persons who wish to join the Legion of Mary are welcome to join the group as a guest at a Praesidium meeting, held each week in the St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Center from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
